Evaluation

Access to the basic Google Alert service is free. Users can easily subscribe to updated information from selected websites regularly. All I did was set up an account with Google Alert and have it sent to my e-mail address. As a part-time library worker, I get updated information from my libraries’ blogs through Google alert daily.

Survey Monkey
Survey Monkey lets internet users to create surveys online. It is a very useful web tool.
In the library service, we can use this tool to conduct surveys easily.
I created a dummy survey as below.
"Library new programs survey".

Feedburner
I set up a feedburner account and I am waiting to see what is going to happen.

Twittercounter and Google analytics are the tools to get graphs and statistics.

Delicious

Delicious (del.icio.us) is a social bookmarking network. It can be used to share, search and resource bookmarks. It is very handy for the internet users to save links for future use.

The bookmarks can be arranged into a list of tags. Users can install a “My Delicious” toolbar in the internet browser. It gives users easy access to the saved bookmarks.

I signed up with the delicious account and created my delicious web page. I started building up my bookmark list that I regularly visit. I used Linkrolls to display my del.icio.us bookmarks, and Tagrolls to display my del.icio.us tags in a tag cloud.

Slideshow of a children story

(Adventure)
I selected a famous story of Aesop’s Fables: The fox and the stork. The pictures are from Camp ABC Eric Cohen Book. I used Powerpoint to make the story into this slideshow.

I signed up with Authorstream, and then uploaded my slideshow and embedded it to my blog.

The presentation takes 4 seconds per page (time is adjustable) after pressing the play button. Enjoy the story.

Merry Christmas!

Learning 2.1 the journey continues/Adventure

Adventure

All the websites had a good collection of free blogger templates. Many of the templates look special and nice. I chose a beautiful template of penguins, because I like the film “Madagascar” very much, especially the troublesome penguins.

I followed the instructions of how to install the blogger templates step by step to give my blog a facelift. Thanks for the free websites.

Wrap up

I have finished the 12 Week program. I enjoyed doing it. I sat infront my computer almost everynight. It was a wonderful experience for me.

I followed the guide of Learning 2.0 week by week and created my accounts with a number of websites. I actually learned some useful knowledge and skills along the way. Now, I am able to upload/link photos and videos, work with wikipedia and other online services. I am quit comfortable with my blog now. In fact, I posted all my findings and progress in Learning 2.0 in my blog.

I think that many of the online applications can used to enhance the library services.Libraries Learning 2.0 program provides a chance and some pressure for us to learn online applications systematically. I would like to thank the nswpln Learning 2.0 team for offering the opportunity to us.
